M3 Odblokuj! Platforma działań przestrzennych i artystycznych – M3 Unblock it! A Platform of spatial and artistic activities

www.odblokuj.org/M3

The aim of the project was the symbolic transfer of a model of a typical ‘70s flat to the public space. The structure of the flat became a framework for various events, exhibitions, and meetings related to culture, architecture, history, and nature.

The depiction of the M3 flat in the green area of the Valley was supposed to provoke a discussion on the improvement of life quality and the use of green areas.

The following activities were realised in the course of the project:

EXHIBITIONS

  • SND 1970+ (27.08 – 11.09.2011)

From a settlement surrounded by orchards, through house factories, to the contemporary blocks of flats – an exhibition on the history of Służew nad Dolinką and the possible scenarios for the future of the estate. The exhibition was accompanied by two discussion meetings and a walk.

  • M3_METAMORFOZY – M3_METAMORPHOSES (27.08 – 11.09.2011) exhibition pavilion

Is it possible to live in the miniature space of the standard two-bedroom apartment? Five young interior designers presented methods of its arrangement, adapting the space to the needs of various types of residents (e.g. singles, seniors, families with children, or students).

Two actions were organised along with the exhibition:

The authors of the presented metamorphoses advised how to change your flat.

Role of design

The influence of design thinking is clearly visible in the project. The M3 pavilion was created by architects and designers. The project’s visual identity was consistent and well designed and the general concept of the project was well planned. It was based on the idea that architecture and design have the power to catalyse social processes related to the living space and that temporary constructions and interventions on a small scale can have a lasting influence on a place as well as activate the social capital of its residents.
