The Department of Design of Politecnico di Milano presented the final results of the SMOTIES project at the Main Campus of Politecnico di Milano. The seminar illustrated the research outcomes and – above all – was the opportunity to foster dialogue with experts on the role of participatory design practices in small and remote places.
Over the last twenty years, design research has seen a growing focus on social innovation and shared actions for the common good, leading to new forms of participatory design and active citizenship. Now, one of the main challenges is to understand and evaluate the social change generated by these experiences. Through three panel conversations, we explored these topics from the perspectives of design research, design practices, and policy.
