The “SMOTIES — Majhni kraji. Velike ideje.” (Small Places. Great Ideas.) Journey Show ran in two parts in Slovenia: May 13th-24th and June 30th-September 18th, 2022. Kicked-off in Medvode, Slovenia, the exhibition showcased best practices in public space design for remote areas, drawing inspiration from the publication “SMOTIES_Creative Works in Small and Remote Places“. This unique display aimed to promote European best practices in the transformation of remote public spaces to encourage locals to initiate their own ideas. The second part transferred it to a small and remote village of Belo where a transformed traditional hayrack served as an exhibition space, bringing knowledge and inspiration directly to the community.
AIM:
- Promote successful approaches to public space design in remote EU locations.
- Highlight the work of local Medvode hinterland artists to residents and visitors.
- Reimagine the hayrack and other built heritage as a platform for artistic expression and community building.
