Human Cities Festival 2010
IBAI Conference

Two initiatives will be presented. Frédéric Karam and Léonard Gurtner (CH) will present the conclusions of their final year of study thesis: creating a new sea transport system with a “high speed catamaran” connecting Lebanese coastal towns. Beyond allowing to decrease the pressure of cars by rediscovering spaces thusfar relegated to parking, this new means of transport also creates neutral meeting spaces in a country torn apart by hatred and war.Artist and educator Jean-François Pirson (B) questions the meaning of public spaces with various supports (photography, sketches, texts and installations). Can’t any space be made “public” by the way it is made use of? How can we capture a space, shape it so as to induce new nomadic “public” uses?

“Comment créer de nouveaux espaces publics?” This conference will be in French.
