Edited by: Human Cities – SMOTIES, Matej Nikšič, Nina Goršič (Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia – UIRS)
The SMOTIES partners explored examples of good practice in co-creating public space in populated remote places in Austria, Estonia, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom. The collected 50 best practices address the participatory improvements of public spaces in which residents and local communities play an essential role, together with actors from the creative sector. Special attention is given to the innovative approaches that manage to put a variety of actors into greater cooperation to jointly reach the final goal through the improvements of the public spaces.
